Protecting mind, body and spirit.
A community center without walls.
Support where the need is.

Why we are hereCare is something we do together.
Shalom Community Center was established in 2011. We are now building a more active presence to connect supporters with specific needs: safeguarding communal spaces in the United States, helping families access Shabbat food in Israel, creating space for trauma recovery, and preserving a survivor’s story for future generations.

Synagogues, temples, Jewish federations and community centers should be places where people can gather without fear. ShomAir is a proposed security program centered on an automated drone station at a participating building. Routine flights could help inspect roofs, fences and grounds; an alert triggered by a potential breach could prompt recording and notification through a defined response process.
The concept is being developed with an Israeli drone company that has offered to contribute software. We are looking for several U.S. institutions interested in exploring a pilot. The system’s detection, alerting, privacy protections, regulatory compliance and emergency protocols would need to be tested with each site and the relevant authorities.
For Shabbat observant institutions, full automation is a key design goal. We have sought initial guidance about religious review; no certification or endorsement has been granted.

Mulik the ZulikA film by Ayelet A. Saban
A six-episode limited series based on the true story of Shmuel Keren-Krol. It follows him from a Lithuanian Jewish childhood, through the Holocaust, to the new State of Israel, where he becomes a decorated IDF officer.

One boy survived the Holocaust, rebuilt his life in Israel and became an officer in the Israeli army. We want to help bring his story to film, tracing both his extraordinary journey and the less visible ways that the Holocaust’s effects can echo through children and later generations.
The film is in development and needs funding to move toward production. Its purpose is to invite understanding, remembrance and honest conversation about family, memory and resilience.

For about a decade, this house of kindness has welcomed families in financial need on Thursdays and Fridays. People can choose fruit, vegetables, meat, chicken, challah, wine and other Shabbat essentials without paying. Choice matters: families take home what they need and what their children will eat.
Evening access offers greater discretion to people navigating loss, divorce or single parenthood. We want to help the program continue serving families with care and respect. Stories and photographs will be shared only with the people’s permission.

Trauma reaches beyond the person who served. Families and children need support too. We hope to help fund weekends for Israeli service members affected by trauma and their loved ones, bringing them into a secluded 12-bedroom desert home for guided support and restorative time.
The envisioned program combines qualified psychological care with opportunities for quiet, meditation and yoga. The clinical partners, eligibility, schedule and costs are still being developed; a retreat is intended as support, not a substitute for ongoing treatment.
